Okay, 50 winters have passed. This man, Beowulf is like what? 100 now? And still has the need of wanting to fight. I could understand if his last enemy was something more harmless than a
fire breathing dragon. (Shaking my head) Not hating on the man, but they could have picked somebody younger, stronger, and healthier, because the dragon was already upset that Beowulf waked him up from his nap. So awhile that dragon was giving him the beat down of his life when the first move in the battle was made, which was when Beowulf stuck sword inside the destructive creature. It's a shock how no other warriors did not even attempt to help one of their great warriors. Why even go fight if you are scared? You are a disgrace to the kingdom and me. Your just giving me another reason to punk out new so called "warriors" that cannot even protect their own village. Not apart of the code! See me, I've served my time of being a fighter, and I was the best until...well, you know. I knew it was something about Wiglaf. The only one brave enough to help defeat the dragon with Beowulf. He deserved to keep the dragon's treasure, and was right for betraying the men who left them alone to fight. I bet it was sad for him to see Beowulf on his death bed burning lifelessly.
I recall this tale. Yes, the dragon himself told it to me in what I think to be as many words as he could have managed. We have a lot of time in Hell, and I suppose he wanted to spend some of it just talking. Believe me when I say that he is very good at that.
ReplyDeleteMay God bless that audacious man who most might think of as a fool- who you used to think of as a fool, might I add. It's funny how our opinions on other people can change over time, isn't it?
